Executive Hire Profile (EHP) for CFO Selection

Project Summary

North Yorkshire FRS needed support with their Chief and Deputy Chief Fire Officer selection process. Our recommendation was to use our Executive Hire Profile (EHP).

The purpose of the Executive Hire Profile is to objectively evaluate potential hires in the context of the organisation’s strategic needs. The EHP enables the FRS to understand candidates’ psychological attributes, their strengths and weaknesses and their suitability for the specific role.

Applicants were asked to undertake online aptitude and personality assessments. These are designed to evaluate their situational judgement, leadership styles and suitability to the specific values and culture of the FRS. Additionally, the Wave Professional Styles tool was used to assess motives and drivers in order to predict where individuals were most likely to deliver their best performance and the Hogan development Survey to evaluate possible derailers.

We then faciliated a validation conversation with the candidate where our Psychologist used key areas from the psychometric tools to explore specific factors in further depth. This collaborative discussion allowed us to build a full picture of the candidate’s intellectual style, interpersonal skills and potential for the role.

The final output was a 12 page executive profiling report, covering strengths, an evaluation of the candidates capabilities and preferences in relation to the NFCC Leadership Framework and áreas to probe further  at the final assessment.

We offer every client a customised approach rooted in a deep understanding of the psychology of human behaviour, a robust methodology and knowing exactly what it takes to be successful within a complex organisation like the FRS. We can also create and implement effective on-boarding strategies to ensure a smooth transition and fast start in the role.

At the end of the process we worked together with key decision-makers to review the evaluation outcomes in order to bring about informed next steps.
